Louis Rider

	Louis Corky Rider, 71, of Elkville, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2001 at 1:20 p.m. at Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center.  
	Mr. Rider had been a coal miner.  He was a member of First Baptist Church, Elkville, and the UMWA. He served in the U.S. Navy.
	He was born July 6, 1929 at Springfield, Ohio, the son of Van Hubert Rider and Jennie Mueller.  He married Joy Lasley on October 23, 2976 at Hillsboro and she survives.
	 In addition to his wife Joy of Elkville, surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Debbie Rider of DuQuoin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Terry Lee and Bruce Cobin of Dowell, Cheryl Ann and Mark Krone of DuQuoin and Patty Sue and Robert Brown of Hillsboro; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Clarissa Choate of Glendale, Ariz.; step-daughter and son-in-law, Karla and Thomas Asbury of Bunker Hill; three brothers, Robert Rider of Christopher, Richard Rider of DuQuoin and Joe Rider of Christopher; two sisters, Mary Lou Margherio of Metropolis and JoAn Williamson of Dowell; two sisters-in-law, Dorice Engelman of Seattle, Wash. and Margueritte Walker of Miami, Okla.; a special friend, Leroy Cookie Chapman of Royalton; eight grandchildren; four step-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson and one step-great-grandson.
	 He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Louis Wayne and George Edward and one grandson.
	Funeral services were Wednesday, January 10 at 10 a.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. Thomas Asbury officiating.  Interment was in Cundiff Cemetery at Blairsville.
	 Friends called Tuesday, January 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
	 Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of TIP Hospice.
